These knives are the result of my quest for the perfect work knife. As a full-time carpenter and a sometimes whittler, finding a knife with all of my favorite features—folding, scandi grind, liner lock—was proving tough. Easier to make my own, I figured. So I researched and trialed and errored until I finally managed to make the knife I still carry with me every day.
A well-suited knife soon becomes an invaluable extension of a body— and my goal is to make the most durable, usable knives possible.
I make all blades and back-springs from 1/8 inch thick O1 tool steel. My woods of choice for fixed blade handles are Juniper and Myrtlewood, both harvested and milled here in Oregon. More information on that can be found here. Liner lock folders and fixed blades are sold exclusively through Ship John with a beautiful, custom Ship John sheath included.
